  • Nov 2025: The World Economic Forum has featured part of my work on forestry robotics done at the University of Oxford.

  • July 2025: I’ll be an invited speaker at IWIALS 2025 in Austria. I’m giving a talk on my research and my tutorial on graphics for papers.
  • June 2025: I moved to the University of Edinburgh for a new postdoc at the Centre for AI in Assistive Autonomy. I’ll be leading the Assistive Care team.
  • May 2025: Invited as an early-career speaker at ICRA @Latin America in Santiago, Chile. I gave a talk on my research and my tutorial on graphics for papers.
  • May 2025: I’ve been recognised as an Outstanding Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) Reviewer 2025.

  • Apr 2025: I’ve contributed an article to The Conversation discussing the Corleo robot by Kawazaki.
  • Jan 2025: I’ll serve as an Associate Editor for IROS 2025.
  • Nov 2024:I joined the efforts to write the SLAM Handbook led by Luca Carlone, Ayoung Kim, Frank Dellaert, Tim Barfoot, and Daniel Cremers. Marco Camurri and I wrote a chapter on leg odometry. The first part is openly available for review, our chapter will appear in part 2.
  • Oct 2024: Benoit Casseau, Leonard Freißmuth, and Haedam Oh will be in Iros 2024 presenting a set on papers on forestry robotics where I contributed.
  • Jun 2024: I’ll be in ICRA 2024 in Yokohama, Japan. I’ll be presenting a workshop paper on forest inventory in the Field Robotics Workshop. Christina Kassab will present LEXIS, Ethan Tao will present SiLVR, Meher Malladi (Uni Bonn) will present a tree segmentation system, and Jin Jin (ETH Zurich) will present a resilient navigation paper (also a finalist for the Cognitive Robotics Paper Award)

  • Oct 2021: I’ve been awarded an NCCR Robotics PhD Exchange Fellowship to visit ETH Zurich.
  • Aug 2021: Yiduo Wang’s paper on scalable reconstruction, where I contributed, will be presented in ECMR 2021.
  • May 2021: I presented my first paper of my PhD, on visual teach and repeat on legged robots in ICRA 2021 (online). I also presented my ongoing work at the Legged Robots workshop, and my abstract was a finalist.
  • Mar 2021: I’ll be leading an (online) robotic exploration challenge for the students of the CDT in Autonomous and Intelligent Machines and Systems (AIMS).
  • Oct 2020: The Newer College Dataset paper led by Milad Ramezani will be presented at IROS 2020.
  • Oct 2019: I started my PhD in robotics at the University of Oxford.
  • Jun 2019: I’ve been awarded a Becas Chile Scholarship for my PhD studies at the University of Oxford.
  • Aug 2018: I started a job as Coordinator of the Beauchef Projecta unit at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Universidad de Chile.
  • Aug 2018: I’ve defended my master’s thesis on visual SLAM. Thanks to my examiners José Martínez Carranza, Felipe Tobar, and Javier Ruiz-del-Solar.
  • Jul 2017: Our paper on visual navigation with the robot Pepper, done by Cristopher Gómez, Tim Resink, and myself, was presented by Cristopher in the RoboCup Symposium 2017, in Nagoya, Japan.
  • Dec 2016: We were awarded CLP 2,500,000 to make our own version of Duckietown at the Universidad de Chile (link)
  • Nov 2016: I gave an invited talk about Robot Football at Futuristas, a TED-like event for high-school students and general public in Santiago.
  • Jun 2016: Our RoboCup paper introducing the NAO Backpack was presented by my colleague Rodrigo Pérez-Dattari at the RoboCup Symposium 2016.
  • Jun 2015: I participated in my 4th RoboCup in Hefei, China. We got the 4th place again!
  • Jun 2015: I presented my first paper, on active vision, in the RoboCup Symposium 2015.
  • Jun 2014: I participated in my 3rd RoboCup in João Pessoa, Brazil. We got the fourth place in the Standard Platform League!
  • Apr 2014: I started as a mentor in the Mustakis Foundation, teaching robotics courses for high-school students.
  • Jan 2014: I’m taking a short program on Academic English at the University of Victoria, Canada, from January to April.
  • Jun 2013: I participated in my second RoboCup, which took place in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
  • Jan 2013: I’ll be doing an engineering internship at the Atacama Large Millimiter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) from January to early March.
